Perak’s Kinta Valley is home to over 30 rock art sites and is also the only place in Peninsular Malaysia where red rock art co-exists with black rock art.

Why was this rock art made?
Who made the rock art?
How is research into rock art carried out?

These are some of the questions that Kinta Valley Rock Art — An Introduction attempts to answer and encourage further conversations about, in a clear, easy-to-understand format.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Archaeologist Dr. Saw Chaw Yeh has carried out rock art research in the Kinta Valley over the past few years, working closely with the local community. It is her hope that this guidebook will introduce more Malaysians to local archaeology and spark an interest in the next generation.
