ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Luc de Gijzel was born and raised in the Netherlands. He graduated at Delft University of Technology with a degree in Mining & Petroleum Engineering (Geophysics).
In 2004 the author came to Penang as manager of a packaging manufacturing company. Soon he started attending the Penang Hokkien classes of Miss Lee Siew Har at the YMCA. Searching for a (Penang) Hokkien Dictionary, he found none were available. Writing down words he came across in Penang, he started compiling his own.
The author currently lives in The Hague, the Netherlands, with his wife and their two children. Both of them were born in Penang.
